Frequently Asked Questions About Southside Fuel's Products and Services

Q. What commercial services does Southside Fuel offer?

A. As the premier provider of commercial fuels in the Richmond, Virginia area, Southside Fuel offers:

Q. I understand you now offer bulk onsite DEF deliveries. What is DEF?

A. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)is a specialized chemical treatment that is stored in its own storage tank for diesel engines, that ...

  • Prevents crystallization buildup in pumps, injectors, and lines during low-load or slow-speed driving.
  • Dissolves existing blockages to help clear emission-related diagnostic trouble codes.
  • Improves stability, extends fluid shelf life, and ensures proper dosing inside the exhaust system.

We provide bulk DEF delivery directly to your site, including warehouses, distribution centers, farms, construction sites, data centers, strip malls, “big box” stores, schools, and hospitals. If you have a diesel engine or generator built after 2013, you need our DEF additive to meet federal emissions standards.

Q. Does Southside Fuel offer tank rental?

A. Yes! Our warehouse has the metered and filtered tanks and pumps you need—in the sizes you need—ready to rent right now, including:

  • 500-gallon tanks
  • 1,000-gallon tanks
  • 2,000-gallon tanks
  • 12V electric high-speed pumps ... and more!

Q. I need customized commercial work. Can Southside Fuel meet my needs?

A. Yes we can! No job is too big, too small, or too unique! If we cannot accommodate your needs for any reason, we work with trusted partners who can meet your on-site fueling requirements with the same reliability and professionalism you expect us.

Q. Does Southside Fuel deliver on-road and off-road diesel?

A. Yes, we do! We deliver low-sulfur on-road and off-road diesel that meets all EPA requirements. We deliver to stationary and mobile tanks, as well as vehicles, construction equipment, farm equipment, generators and other stationary equipment. If you're now sending your vehicles to public filling stations, we can help you control costs and improve productivity by fueling your fleet at your location. We deliver wherever and whenever you need fuel in order to reduce equipment downtime and maintain high productivity. Our delivery trucks are metered, so you can receive a precise report of how much fuel is delivered to each piece and tank. If you require a tank, Southside Fuel can provide one.

Q. How can Southside Fuel’s job site fueling benefit me?

A. Southside Fuel helps contractors maximize productivity and stay on schedule with our expert job site fueling services. We work with clients to develop a custom fueling plan for each job site, then we deliver and fill on schedule so that your workers aren’t left waiting. We can fill individual vehicles or tanks, and we provide tanks when needed. Whether your work site needs 100 gallons a day or 10,000, Southside can meet your needs.

Q. What are the benefits of onsite diesel fleet fueling?

A. Diesel fleet fueling delivers great savings. You can reduce or eliminate spending at commercial filling stations and maximize driver productivity. You can also eliminate your own on-site fueling facilities—and all the costs and risks associated with them. Our metered trucks also enhance control of your operation by providing precise information on each vehicle's diesel fuel consumption.

Q. What is commercial fuel tank monitoring?

A. Storage tank monitoring allows you to continuously track fuel levels while providing additional protection and more accurate readings. When your fuel falls below a certain threshold, this magnetic, battery-operated device sends an alert that tells us it’s time for a fill-up, and we set up your next delivery.

Q. Do commercial generators need to be tested?

A. All of the fluids in an emergency power system need to be tested on a periodic basis for any changes. The changes are due to use of the equipment, natural processes related to the chemistry of the fluids, or both. The condition of the fluid tells us about the readiness and capacity of the equipment to perform its job.

Q. Is it true that the fuel in a commercial generator degrades?

A. Generators that get regular use or testing generally experience no problems with fuel. If you are concerned that the fuel in your generator tank has degraded, give us a call and we’ll be happy to take a look. If the fuel requires replacement, Southside Fuel can pump your old fuel out, clean your tank and lines, deliver new fuel, and get your generator restarted.

Q. Where can I find a Richmond, VA company that delivers unbranded gasoline?

A. Southside Fuel serves filling stations and fueling facilities throughout Richmond, Virginia with prompt and reliable gasoline delivery.
